recovery is not easy and a whole new life is unfolding before
you. New people, new experiences and a challenging journey of trying and
doing everything differently.
Anyone who loves roller coasters will tell you that one element that makes riding them so exciting is that they consist of ups and downs, highs and lows! So too recovery is journey that consists of ups and downs, highs (not literally) and lows. Such is life! Whether you're on top of the world or feeling a bit wobbly, we want to support you in your process. We trust you are exactly where you are meant to be!
Things are going well
So you're in recovery and have found a new way to live! Maybe that means that:
- You abstain from all mind- or mood-altering substances.
- You work on a healthy eating and exercise plan on a daily basis.
- You are learning about who you are, and living a life based on recovery principles.
- You no longer have anonymous sex partners.
- You are learning to love yourself more.
- You are working on doing things in moderation and with balance.
- You may have relapsed but have picked yourself up and you are back in your programme.
- You have a plan on how to stay clean, sober and abstinent and you stick to it!
- You have been in recovery for several years and this “new way of life” is now simply “LIFE”
- You have rediscovered joy and ways in which to have fun!
What a great accomplishment, well done!

Things are not going as well as they could be
The nature of addiction means that it needs constant monitoring and effort and it's not always easy!
Do any of these statements ring true for you?
- I need a turbo charge. Things are a bit shaky and I could be in trouble.
- I am feeling bored – what's the big hype about recovery?
- It's getting a bit lonely and it feels like I am doing this on my own.
- I am not using but my life is unmanageable again!
- I am not using but some new behaviour has crept in.
- I don't drink but I have started gambling.
- I have not used drugs but I sleep around a lot.
- I don't drink but my eating is out of control.
- My eating is in control but I obsess about exercise.
- I work way too much and people are noticing.
- I can't stop collecting porn.
- It's just too much work; I don't know how much longer I can do this!
If any of these or more resonate for you, you can do something about it NOW before it gets worse.
Maybe it's time to give your recovery a boost!
